NY State Furs Code of Conduct and Expectations
NY State Furs is a fun furry group that wants to maintain a fun safe atmosphere for all its attendees. Anyone in attendance of one of the NY State Furs meets, either a monthly meet or a unique event, hereby agrees to these policies. These rules apply to all aspects of the NY State Furs meets.
Meet Attendance
While we try our best to plan our meets on days that work best for everyone, we all are busy people with busy schedules and as big of a group as we are we cannot plan a meet on a day that works perfectly for every member. We apologize in advance for this but there is nothing we can really do about it. We do try to make it a point and ask when the best day and time is for everyone.
Keep in mind that with private meets the host may set limitations as to size of the group or make the meet for locals only. Don't get discouraged if you cant attend for one of those reasons, we host many meets and your always welcome to our public meets.
Guidelines for Meets
Behavior and Respect of Persons and Property
Oh No Furry Drama!
We are all unique individuals with a broad bunch of personalities. To ensure a pleasurable atmosphere we ask that you refrain from any overly-sexual conversational topics or obscene gestures (especially if there are minors under the age of 17 present), no rough-housing, screaming and yelling, fighting, overly affectionate behavior (kissing, hugging, snuggling, and hand holding are ok).
All warnings for bad behavior are sent via private message from a moderator. If you continue your behavior after a warning was issued you will be removed from the meet and may be asked not to attend future meets.
Any harassment, stalking or unwanted behavior will result in removal from the meet. NO means NO every time.
Furries are portrayed in a negative light to society, please behave in a manner that is positive to our fandom.
Please respect other peoples personal belongings or households. If you break something please tell the owner of the object immediately. Try to clean up after yourself, don't litter. Its always nice to do your part in cleaning up at meets.
Do not climb on or damage property in the venues. If you damage property, you may be held responsible for repair or replacement, at the discretion of the properties owner.
You are responsible for your stuff, if it goes missing the venue and NY State Furs hold no responsibility over your items.
Drugs, Weapons and Alcohol
now we want a nice clean meet here...
Drugs:
Illegal substances are banned from meets. If you bring them and we catch you with them, you will be banned from all meets. You come to the meets to have fun, you should be more than capable of doing it sober.
Weapons:
Weapons are dangerous and we are all friendly people, there is no need to bring weapons to meets so please do not bring them. If you bring them and we catch you with them, you will be banned from all meets.
Alcohol:
Alcohol is not allowed at most meets unless otherwise stated. You will only be allowed to consume alcohol if you are over the age of 21 and have a designated driver, or have made arrangements to stay over in advance. Buying alcohol for persons under the age of 21 is illegal so do not do it.
Fur-suiting, Dress Code and Hygiene
Oh My!
Fur-suiting:
While we love our fursuiters we ask that you use common sense as to when and where to wear them. We suggest you do not wear them to our mall meets, as well as to any meets centered around food (You don't want to try to get food and drink out of your pretty fur now do you?) We also want you to be aware that some meets are held outdoors and you should be weary of the elements when you choose to wear your suit.
Dress Code:
For starters, nudity is not an option. Furry Accessories (Ears, tails, collars, etc) are encouraged! The following items are not encouraged: leashes, harnesses, clothing that reveals "Naughty bits", handcuffs, chains, whips, adult toys, and any other "Murry Purry" items that I failed to mention.
Hygiene:
Common sense, please bath and wear clean clothing and deodorant. No one wants to hug a smelly fur. Fursuiters, please keep your suits clean. If you need advice on how to do that please talk to an "experienced" suiter.
Photos and Media
Why don't you come over here and model for me *wink*?
Photos can be taken at meets for private use only. Please keep in mind that not all furs want to be photographed for personal reasons.
As a general fursuit photography rule, do not photograph fursuiters without their heads,(its like breaking a mirror or something). Bad luck will befall on you.
In general, if your not sure if you can take a picture, feel free to ask them.
The media and press should not be at any events. If they do happen to be there then its really your choice to talk to them but please make sure to keep a good light on our fandom. Please don't invite the press or media to events.
Minors
Future suiters.
Under the age of 13: MUST have a parent or guardian present in order to attend, and they are responsible for your actions.
Over the age of 13: we assume you were given permission to attend by a parent/guardian. We expect you to act like an adult and if you cannot do that we will call your parent/guardian to come retrieve you.
Wavers
Wait what? You mean i cant skydive in my suit?
Fursuiters may be asked to sign wavers stating that they accept all risks and hold no responsibility over NY State Furs or the Venue in case of injury.
Reprimanding (Rule Breaking)
Unless otherwise stated in the section.
If you violate the rules you may be removed from the meet and asked not to return to the meet. Repeat offenders may be asked not to come to the next few meets. If you continue to fail to follow the rules then you may be asked to no longer attend any meets.
